About GenEarth

Our Mission

Our Mission is to equip the generation inheriting the climate crisis with the tools to build a future where people and nature can thrive together.

We aspire to work with schools in areas of high deprivation, ensuring the young people most disproportionately affected by the climate crisis have access to the education that builds the confidence, skills and agency to shape change in their communities and futures.

Our Approach

Most education teaches young people what to think. We teach them how.

The climate crisis is our entry point. But what we're really building are skills for life: critical thinking, systems awareness and agency. Skills young people need to make sense of a complex world that they carry with them long after they leave our programmes.

Our work is rooted in systems thinking. Young people are growing up in a world shaped by messy, interconnected crises. We help them make sense of these issues, because you cannot imagine alternatives without first understanding what got us here.

We do not tell young people what to think or how to respond. We build the capacity to think well and trust them to do the rest.

We test and continually adapt our programme offerings, based on the young people and educators we work with.

Collaboration is key to the way we work. We believe our programmes are richer when shaped by a diverse range of voices and perspectives and we recognise that the best solutions come from the people closest to the problems.

Our Theory of Change

Our programmes follow a simple but deliberate cycle: knowledge, skills, action, leadership.

Knowledge builds critical thinking. Critical thinking builds agency. Agency builds lasting change.

  • We start with honest, evidence-based content rooted in real-world contexts young people already recognise.

  • Facilitators guide reflection without promoting set opinions, young people then test ideas and form their own conclusions.

  • Workshops end not with fixed answers but open questions. What could you do? What does your response look like?

  • Every programme is curriculum-aligned, co-developed with teachers and expert partners, and continuously adapted based on feedback from the young people and educators we work with.

What are young people are saying?

During the Climate Justice Workshop I learned that disabled people are often disproportionately affected during natural disasters, that women had to fight for 45 years to win the right to vote, and that the countries producing the most carbon emissions are often not the ones experiencing the worst impacts of climate change."

"I really enjoyed the Create Your Own Campaign activity because it was fun, interactive and gave us the chance to try things out on an issue we genuinely cared about, since we got to choose it ourselves."

"I loved how engaged everyone became during the workshop. At first, people were quite shy, but as the session progressed, more and more students began sharing their ideas and opinions. Hearing different perspectives helped me learn things from my peers that I hadn't considered before."
