UKYCC
GenEarth has partnered with the UK Youth Climate Coalition (UKYCC) to deliver Climate Justice workshop to young people.

This workshop has been designed by young people, is delivered by young people, for young people. A programme that grounds itself in being youth-led and centres a climate justice lens
within environmental education
The UK Youth Climate Coalition (UKYCC) is a UK youth group that mobilises and empowers young people to take positive action for global climate justice. UKYCC is a voluntary, consensus-led, non-hierarchy, and non-profit organisation. Their members are based UK-wide, and share the common goal to achieve genuine global climate justice. They are a group of 18-29 year old's who volunteer and collaborate to work towards creating a just, sustainable world in which current and future generations enjoy and protect a healthy environment.

The Climate Justice workshops nurtured an understanding of how to bring about climate justice, how to cope with eco-anxiety, and how to create grassroots change in their communities through a local campaign. In our Pilot year (2022-2023) we delivered the Climate Justice workshop to over 300 young people, in four London-based schools. Over the previous school year (2023-2024) we have delivered the Climate Justice workshop to over 750 young people.

After participating in the workshop
-
79% of students had a better understanding of climate change and eco-anxiety than before the workshop
-
76% of students felt more comfortable to discuss Climate Justice with their friends and family after the workshop
The volunteers who delivered the workshops have shared that they have enjoyed the experience, finding it encouraging to get involved in engaging young people on the topic of climate justice. Two of our volunteers, Sarah and Chloe, have written blogs about their experience volunteering as workshop facilitators on this programme.
